Lithium Heparin required and EDTA for an FBE.    

The test MUST be set up within 48 hours of collection.

0.5 mL lithium heparin and 0.5mL EDTA for an FBE

Medical Staff: Please request FBE as it is required to quantitate absolute values and must be collected at the same time.

Collection Staff: If the blood is to be collected Fridays after 12 midday, please call laboratory on ext 55725 before collecting specimen.

Specimen Reception/Laboratory: Do not spin. Keep at room temperature.

External Laboratories:
Please supply a copy of the FBE result.
Please ensure samples arrive at RCH within the sample validity times above.

Samples may be collected Sat 10am - Friday 12 midday (see note above for Friday pm specimens)

Testing performed Mon-Fri (excluding public holidays)
