WARM Serum - WARMED Gel tube - Please call Core Laboratory (RCH Ext 5904/ RWH Ext 2552)  for  Cyroglobulin collection kit (stored in CSR incubator) prior to specimen collection.

Call Core Laboratory prior to blood collection (Mon - Thurs only).

LABORATORY NOTES:

The cryoglobulin collection kit and pre-warmed gel packs are located in the CSR 35°C incubator.

Issue pre-warmed collection kit between pre-warmed gel packs in an esky.

Blood is to be collected into the warmed tube  and the specimen MUST be kept warm and returned to Core lab in the esky between the warm gel-packs IMMEDIATLEY.

The specimen must be kept warm post collection. DO NOT centrifuge.

On receipt of the warm specimen, place the primary tube (unspun) in the 'cryoglobulin' thermos (loacated in RCH incubator) with small warmed gel-packs.

Transport the specimen  WARM in the thermos (in an esky) ASAP.

Please notify the laboratory/specimen reception at St.Vincent's of impending arrival.

The thermos is labelled so that is is returned to us from the referred laboratory.
